Sideboard #180
180
Fine Federal Inlaid Mahogany Sideboard, New York, circa 1790, the serpentine top with inlaid edge above three frieze drawers, a pair of cupboard doors below, cupboard doors flanking, the patera-and line-inlaid dies on bellflower-and line-inlaid square tapering legs ending in crossbanded cuffs. H: 39 ¼": (1m m.); L: 6' ½" (1.84 m.); D: 31 ¾" (81 cm.). Similarities of proportion and inlay configuration of this sideboard to those of the van Schaick family sideboard suggest that the two were built by the same cabinetmaker.
