Federal Inlaid Mahogany Sideboard, Labeled Thomas Burling, New York, circa 1795, the oblong top with bowed center section above a conformingly shaped frieze fitted with two concave fan-and line-inlaid cupboard doors, centering a long drawer and a pair of convex fan- and line-inlaid cupboard doors, centering bookend inlaid dies, on line-inlaid square tapering legs. Legs once detached and reapplied. Height 39 ½ inches (1.0 m.); width 72 inches (1.83 m.); depth 31 inches (78 cm.). Bears a printed label on the inside door of the center section with the inscription THOS. BURLING Cabinet & chairmaker No. 56 Beekman Street New York.
