A superb and rare Federal satinwood-inlaid mahogany demi-lune
sideboard, the semi-circular top over a conformingly-shaped case having two short drawers
and two pair of line-inlaid cockbeaded cupboard doors faced to simulate four short
drawers, centering on line-inlaid cockbeaded long drawer over two line-inlaid cockbeaded
deep drawer faced to simulate two short drawers, the shaped skirt with line-inlaid edge
having three contrasting light and dark inlaid fans, continuing to line-and bellflower
inlaid square tapering legs ending in crossbanded cuffs. Retains its original
brasses. Northeastern Massachusetts, circa 1790. 39" high (1m.); 4'
6" wide (1.68 m.); 25" deep (63 cm.). |
